    >> UPDATE: Tales of Symphonia WILL NOT Be Re-Translated & Re-Dubbed For Chronicles

UPDATE (July 6, 2013): A Namco Bandai representative has just informed us that NO, Tales of Symphonia will not be-retranslated or re-dubbed for Chronicles. The rep has officially confirmed this to be NOT true and that there will be no re-dub.

Fisico from Kingdom of Tales let us all in on what went down during their interview with Hideo Baba at Japan Expo 2013.

Though still not set in stone, Baba-san mentioned to them that they will most likely re-translate and re-dub everything in Tales of Symphonia for its coming HD remaster.

Though nothing is official yet and it's not that clear yet, since they're using the PS2 version of Symphonia for this, there are possibly problems with the GameCube translation. Hopefully they'll officially clear this up soon. And no, Dawn of the New World won't be touched, it seems.

Expect the full English interview to be up on Monday or so on Kingdom of Tales.

Tales of Symphonia: Unisonant Pack, known as Tales of Symphonia Chronicles in the west, will be released in Japan this October 10, 2013 and in the US and Europe early 2014. Pre-orders are now available at the following places:

I really hope they get the skits done. I don't like reading the skits silently. I'd prefer to hear Japanese voices for ONLY the skits (and the rest of the game in English) if they don't dub the skits in English. I'd even be fine with the skits being in English if I could control when the next line is spoken.

Many times I either read too slow and I miss what they just said (especially since I have to look up to see whose mouth is moving in order to tell who is speaking), or I read too fast and I have to sit there until they finish flapping their jaws before I can read the next line.

Neither of the added anime scenes had voicework in them anyway, nor did any of the subevents the PS2 version added.
And in terms of the main story, the English version actually had an extra voiced scene over the Japanese version.
The only thing that would need to be voiced are the new artes/U-attacks/Mystic Artes.
And well, skits, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

So then are they going to use the original dub track from the Gamecube/Wii games? Considering this isn't Vesperia with its extra characters, there's no reason they can't use the old track and just leave the new scenes unvoiced a la Kingdom Hearts Final Mix...(but then again, the KH games didn't have new animated scenes. The might be a little weird if left unvoiced)

But will they still dub the PS2 contents?

@gunotak: Yeah, there's still one more in a couple of hours.

Is that all ? Is there more surprises to announce from BABA ? huh.gif

I hope the original cast can come back to do this but I am going to guess that probably is unlikely at this point. At the very least as long as Cam Clarke reprises his role as Kratos Aurion I will be very happy.
