When Elle's home was attacked, her father gave her his pocketwatch, told her to catch a train in the city of Trigleph, and made her promise to meet him in the Land of Canaan, a legendary place that could supposedly grant wishes. Elle escaped on a boat as the attackers gunned down her father. Nevertheless, she is determined to keep her promise and find the Land of Canaan. Elle takes the train as her father instructed and finds herself in the midst of a hijacking. Ludger protects her and, while she is unnerved by his Chromatus transformation, she agrees that he can't be a bad person since he takes good care of his cat. Realizing that she is on her own, Ludger and Jude convince her to stay with them and search for the Land of Canaan during their journey.
Elle is a very cheerful and strong-willed child. She is also a picky eater who hates tomatoes and is used to her father's meals that were specifically tailored to her own very particular tastes. Elle cares deeply about those close to her.
