Sorey is the main protagonist in Tales of Zestiria. He is a young man with a resonance powerful enough to see both seraphs and hellions. Though human, he has spent the entirety of his life in the seraphim village of Elysia together with Mikleo, thereby having the ability to see and perceive the seraphim. He is pure-hearted and quick to express his feelings. Though naive to a fault at times, his positive attitude endears him to everyone around him. He had started to become interested in ancient ruins when he came upon the Celestial Record book by chance when he was just a child. Ever since then, he had held onto the things about the ancient culture to the point of romanticism and even making it part of his big dream.
His everyday life is changed when, while exploring ruins near their village together with Mikleo, the two get involved in its collapse. While trying to find a way out, they discover a girl, unconscious. Sorey immediately attempts to help her, though Mikleo is more wary. The girl is fine with no serious injuries, and she manages to regain consciousness, and Sorey invites her back into their village. After taking care of her needs, the girl's awareness of him eventually softens, and she finally gives Sorey her name - Alisha.
