Unlike the rest of the playable characters in Tales of Xillia 2, Milla is not from the prime dimension. She is from a fractured dimension, where she lives in Nia Khera with her sister, Muzét. Muzét lost her eyesight while protecting her, so Milla feels responsible for her suffering. As a result, she makes excuses for Muzét's increasingly abusive behavior without realizing that her sister's sudden change in personality is because she is a divergence catalyst. When Ludger and his friends travel to Milla's fractured dimension and destroy it, Elle rushes to Milla and inadvertently brings her back to the prime dimension with them.
Milla treats the rest of the party with considerably more anger and coldness than her prime dimension counterpart, as she is upset that they destroyed her world and took her away from her familiar life. The other party members are somewhat awkward around her too, as she reminds them strongly of Milla Maxwell but they do not have a shared history to draw upon in their interactions. The exception to this is Elle, who becomes good friends with Milla as a result of her love of Milla's cooking. Milla's character chapters focus on her improving her cooking skills to impress Elle and become a better chef than Ludger.
