In a recent interview with Tales of Series Producer Tomizawa, the next Tales of game, Tales of Xillia 2 Remastered, plus two other remasters are currently in the works.
The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu (released today, October 23), features a 16-page spread on the upcoming Tales of Xillia Remastered. Included in the spread is a summary of Tales of Xillia's story, features, characters, quality of life updates, and an interview with Tales of Series Producer Yusuke Tomizawa.
In the interview, Tomizawa confirms that aside from Tales of Xillia Remastered, which is releasing this October 31st, "more than two other titles" are currently being remastered in conjunction with various development partners, but are currently in different stages of development:
—How many titles are currently being planned and developed for the remaster project?
Tomizawa: We have formed a team with several development partners, and we have no less than two titles in the works, from the verification stage to the final stages of development. In 2025, we were able to announce and release Graces F and Xillia. However, the pace of our releases depend on the status of development – some are faster, some are slower. Regardless, we hope to deliver as many titles as we can as soon as feasible.
—Does that mean the next title in the (Remastered) project will be announced soon?
Tomizawa: I’m sorry, but we can’t say anything specific about the next title just yet, but we plan to announce the next Remastered title fairly soon.
The next Tales of game is also in the works, but is still very much still far away from release or announcement:
—With new titles being requested, how do you envision the series as a whole?
Tomizawa: It’s been four years since Arise, and two years have passed since the release of the sequel DLC, “Beyond the Dawn.” The Tales of Series Development Team continues to think about and work on new titles, just as we have with the series’ history. It will be a while before we make any announcements about new titles, but we have also been planning and considering various initiatives, including the remastered versions, events, and merchandise. Following on from our 30th anniversary, we hope to continue creating opportunities for our fans to experience and share the characters’ stories in various ways as we mark our 40th and 50th anniversaries.
In addition, when asked if whether Xillia 2 is being worked on, Tomizawa answered that it is actually being worked on, and let us wait for further announcements.

—How is the development of Xillia 2, the sequel?
Tomizawa: As I mentioned earlier, our policy with our Remastered Project is “to announce and release what is completed as quickly as possible.” The same goes for Xillia 2, which is still in development and has not yet been actually announced. We will do our best to provide further information as soon as possible.
Other fun bits in the inteview mention that 70% of current consumers of Tales games are actually from outside Japan, not because the overseas fans like the series more, but because of the shift in audience preferences as well towards the growing popularity of JRPGs.
