On February 16th, Bandai Namco announced that the English version of Tales Channel Plus will be shutting down on March 24th, 2026.
Tales Channel Plus is the official website and portal for the Tales of Series, where viewers can read various updates on the franchise, including merchandise announcements, events, and development status on the games. There is also pages with general information on each game released so far. Those interested in following the franchise on social media may also find links to the official YouTube channel, X (formerly Twitter), and more, on this same site.
The English version of the site launched back in September of 2020, as we reported.
In regards to the English version's closure, no official statements have been given as to why it is shutting down. However, they offer gratitude for those who used the English version, stating "thank you for your loyal support over the years." They also say that the Japanese version "will remain available for you to enjoy" and offer their apologies for the inconvenience and "thank you for your understanding."
Speaking as myself, this news is both unfortunate and understandable. The sad truth is that most people get their video game news on other websites and outlets, like here. Having a dedicated website specifically for fans in another region outside the home one is great, but if no one uses it, paying to keep the website active is perhaps not the wisest decision. Some may also have a distaste for machine translations, which the English version did use. The news coverage on the site was also not so great, as it was only international news, though this may not have bothered most readers. With the series continuing to grow in popularity, it is sad still to see another shut down, but it is what it is. There are other Bandai Namco franchises that have English versions of their official websites built into the Japanese, featuring translated (albeit machine-made) news and text, covering everything. Perhaps the Tales of Series will get that same treatment? I am just speaking hypothetically, mind you. No official announcements have been made regarding future English language pages.

Tales of Berseria is the latest mothership title of the Tales of Series which was first announced during Tales of Festival 2015. The game was released for both the PS3 and PS4 on August 18, 2016 in Japan, January 24, 2017 in North America and January 27, 2017 in Europe for the PS4 and PC. The game features a female protagonist named Velvet and a theme of pirates and ships. It’s also confirmed as a distant prequel to Tales of Zestiria.
