"Possible" Tales of Festival 2020 Cancellation Announced Because of COVID-19, Cast List Updated, Merchandise Pre-orders Open

Yet they're still all out, it seems

Despite the coronavirus scare, here's the updated cast list!

Because of the growing concerns of the disease being brought about by the novel coronavirus (aka COVID-19), the upcoming Tales of Festival 2020, which is supposed to be held this June 13 and 14 in Yokohama, Japan, has a "possibility" of getting canceled, Bandai Namco Japan announced today via the official website.

Details on issues such as ticket cancellations and refunds will be announced separately should they announce the cancellation.

Despite that, the official Tales of Festival 2020 website has been updated with the cast list and performances. Confirmed MCs for the event include Onosaka Masaya (Zelos Wilder, Tales of Symphonia) for both days, Rina Satou (Velvet Crowe, Tales of Berseria) for Day 1 and Noriko Shitaya (Lailah, Tales of Zestiria) for Day 2.

Artists

Confirmed so far is a live soundtrack performance from Motoi Sakuraba, who composed a good majority of music for the Tales of Series. There may be more.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary, members of the cast will also be singing the different opening themes for Tales. So far, the confirmed songs and cast to sing so far are:

Day 1

  • "Yume wa Owaranai ~Kobore Ochiru Toki no Shizuku~" (Tales of Phantasia) - Junko Iwao (Mint Adnade, Tales of Phantasia)
  • "BURN" (Tales of Berseria) - Toshiyuki Morikawa (Eizen, Tales of Berseria)

Day 2

  • "Karma" (Tales of the Abyss) - Chihiro Suzuki (Luke fon Fabre, Tales of the Abyss)
  • "Kane wo Narashite" (Tales of Vesperia) - Rika Morinaga (Rita Mordio, Tales of Vesperia)

Attendees will also get a postcard with a design signed by the cast each day. There will be two postcards for the whole event, one for Day 1 and one for Day 2. Putting the two together completes the whole picture. The art will be the Festival's key visual for 2020 (which has not yet been revealed).

Merchandise Pre-orders

Pre-orders for some of the Festival's merchandise is also now available via the Asobi Store. The pre-order time will run from April 3 to April 13, 2020. You can check out the product pages here (Japan only).

With the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing in almost all countries in the world, it seems a lot of events are being cancelled, from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, to E3 2020. As such, some have opted to go with an online approach to releasing information.
