Announced during the Tales of YouTube Winter Special Live held last December 15th, Tales of Arise is getting a new trailer, animated by ufotable. But no, it's not an anime adaptation. It's just an anime-style trailer.
In celebration of the recently concluded 25th Anniversary of the Tales of Series, a special live stream called "Tales of YouTube Winter Special Live was held last December 15, 2021, which featured news and a summary of events for the 25th anniversary.
It was announced during the stream that Tales of Arise will be getting a new trailer showing new animation by ufotable. Just in case you have seen posts from other news outlets that this is a new "animation" or "anime", they seem to have mistranslated the news. This new "animated" trailer is no means a signal for an upcoming anime or anything - it was just commissioned specifically to promote the game. Initial screenshots shown during the live stream last month are below:
Today, additional screenshots were shown in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, which currently has Alphen on the cover and features a huge spread on Tales of Arise, as well as a bit on Tales of Luminaria.
We still don't have news on when this trailer will be coming out. So far, the announcement has been it's really just for promotional purposes of the game, and not an anime in any form. In an interview with Tales Series producer Yusuke Tomizawa in the same issue of Famitsu, the question regarding a possible anime was also addressed:
Famitsu: Are there any plans to make an anime for Arise?
Tomizawa: Arise is a work created to tell its story through the game, hence there are no plans at the moment to tell the story again in the form of an anime. For now, please do look forward to our upcoming new trailer showing scenes animate by ufotable.
This interview question was followed with the said new screenshots:
That said, it is extremely odd to suddenly release an animated trailer out of the blue. Stay tuned for more updates.
