Today marks the 26th anniversary of our beloved Tales of Series!
December 15 marks the first ever release of Tales of Phantasia, and with it, the beginning of our beloved Tales of Series! That said, Tales of Phantasia also celebrates its 26th anniversary today, along with Tales of the Abyss with its 16th anniversary!
The road from the 25th anniversary has truly been a wonderful one. With a lot of ups like the success of Tales of Arise, and a few downs like the upcoming closure of Tales of Crestoria, it has been an eventful year.
There will be a Tales of Series Winter Special live stream later today at 9PM JST which will talk about news on current titles. We believe it will also address the plans from hereon out regarding Tales of Crestoria.
We're also holding a little Christmas giveaway to celebrate! Drop over at the giveaway post!
What was your favorite thing about the anniversary?
Tales of Phantasia
Tales of Phantasia is the first and founding title for the Tales of Series, first released back in 1995. At present, it is the title with the most number of ports and/or remakes and also has an anime OVA adaptation. The game features heavy influences of time travel and a bit of Norse mythology. It is confirmed as a distant sequel to Tales of Symphonia.
Tales of the Abyss is the eighth mothership title of the series initially released for the PlayStation 2 in Japan in the same year as Tales of Legendia. It is the Tales of Series 10th Anniversary title. The game was later ported to the Nintendo 3DS and was adapted into a 26-episode TV anime by Sunrise. Abyss tells the story of Luke, a young noble whose life turns upside down upon meeting a mysterious girl named Tear. The game appears to be influenced by musical themes.
A745 (or Abby, as most people call her) is the founder of Abyssal Chronicles. She is currently a doctor, but that doesn't stop her from showing her love for the Tales of Series. She loves potato chips. A lot.
