AC's "Tales Merch Monthly" is back! To those who missed our debut post three months ago, this new column of ours focuses on any upcoming Tales of Series related merchandise, as well as those that (we think) are already available and are worth collecting. From shirts, to figures, to even keychains, we'll try to cover as much as we can! The column will be out every month, and will focus on stuff just released/to be released for that same month, as well as Tales stuff you can pre-order that will come out in the coming two months.

In this month's issue, we focus on the latest mothership Tales of Series title to hit Japan, Tales of Xillia 2, as well as a little trip down memory lane as we look at the previous Tales localizations.

New Pre-orders:


I know a good number of us are pretty excited for Tales of Xillia 2, especially since Tales of Xillia itself will be getting a localization in 2013.

Similar to Xillia 1, Xillia 2 will be getting three different special packs aside from just the game alone:

  • Tales of Xillia 2 X Edition w/ PS3 Controller - This will include a PS3 dual shock controller that complements the custom design PS3 console that came with Xillia 1's own X Edition - Play-Asia (all slots currently sold out, check again later) | YesAsia
  • Tales of Xillia 2 Lalabit Market Kyun Chara Pack - Similar to Xillia 1's Kyun Chara pack, this bundle will include: (a) The game; (b) Kyun Chara Figure of Ludger which will come with two additional bodies (it corresponds with his Weapon Shifts, so that's three bodies all in all); (c) Kyun Chara Figure of Elle (comes with a mini Lulu); (d) The customized calender box (seen above) - Play-Asia
  • Tales of Xillia 2 Famitsu DX Pack - Somewhat similar to Xillia 1's own Famitsu DX Pack. This will include: (a) the game; (b) B2 size tapestry with illustrations by ufotable; (c) 8 Clear Files - 6 character ones and 2 group ones; (d) Lulu Plushie and (e) Tales of Friends X Famitsu original mug. - Play-Asia | CDJapan

All pre-orders of whichever version above will include the following Pre-order Bonuses:

  • Original Short Novel "Tales of Xillia 2 -Before Episode-" and Game Creation Documentation - A short novel featuring what happened during the time between Xillia 1 and Xillia 2, plus a documentation on the game's making.
  • DLC Codes For 3 Character Costumes. One was revealed to be an Emil Castagnier (Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World) costume for Ludger. The others will be revealed in the future.
  • DLC Codes For 2 PS3 Custom Themes.

Do you want Asbel to wake you up in the morning? Then avail of this Tales of Graces f Asbel Voice Alarm Clock and wake up to the sound of his voice. This will be out on July 25th. This little Asbel alarm clock is actually one of five available Tales voiced clocks. Problem is, this is the only one available internationally via CDJapan. The others, you'll have to find some way to get from Lalabit Market.

From Last Month's Issue:

The English version of Tales of Vesperia ~The First Strike~ Movie has just been released courtesy of Funimation. The First Strike tells the story of Yuri and Flynn a few years before they joined the Knights, and it possibly explains why the two lead such different lives in the game.

The second volume of Tales of Symphonia: The Animation - United World Episode was just released last month. I can pretty much vouch for it and say that this was truly an excellent episode. I seriously can't wait for the final volume to be released (check above for pre-order details of Volume 3).

The current available issue of Viva! Tales of Magazine focuses a bit on Tales of Xillia 2. I doubt there's any new info that we don't know yet in the magazine, but it is worth a look. Various Tales of Series manga are also in the issue, such as Tales of Xillia - Side: Jude, Tales of Graces F and Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3.

The Tales of Vesperia Yuri Lowell 1/8 Scale Figure by ALTAiR has been re-released this month... Though as you guys might have expected, it's pretty much sold out everywhere. I seriously couldn't find a single place to still have Yuri in stock. If anyone knows, it'll be much appreciated.

Other Items Just Released:

I know all of us are excited about Tales of Xillia getting localized, but let's take a moment to journey down memory line and have a little fun with the previous Tales titles that did make it to the West. This should at least keep us busy while we have the painful wait until 2013.
