Tales of Merchandise Monthly Issue #5 August 2012: Music And More

AC's "Tales Merch Monthly" is back! To those who missed our debut post four months ago, this new column of ours focuses on any upcoming Tales of Series related merchandise, as well as those that (we think) are already available and are worth collecting. From shirts, to figures, to even keychains, we'll try to cover as much as we can! The column will be out every month, and will focus on stuff just released/to be released for that same month, as well as Tales stuff you can pre-order that will come out in the coming two months.

I apologize for the delay on this one. I was actually waiting to put in more stuff in this issue, but just to inform you, there's not much to put this time around. Maybe next month, but yeah.

In this month's issue, we give a little focus on music related to the Tales of Series. Click the read more option to see the whole long list! Or click below to see the subsections!

New Pre-orders:

Everyone's pretty excited for these upcoming Tales of Series Nendoroid Petits, which will be released late December 2012. The whole set will feature Yuri and Estelle from Tales of Vesperia, Jude and Milla from Tales of Xillia and Asbel and Sophie from Tales of Graces, as well as one other unannounced secret character. Buying the whole set will get you 8 figures in all (not sure if the 8th figure is another secret one or just a duplicate or something, most probably the latter), but you can try out your luck at Play-Asia and get one random one per order.

  • Tales of Series Nendoroid Petite Set - Play-Asia (Play-Asia sells it for one random figure each. If you want the whole set where you'll get them all for sure, buy 8 of their single ones. Every other shop sells the whole set only) | CDJapan | HobbySearch | Amiami | YesAsia

Missed this year's Tales of Festival? Then (almost) feel like you're there with the Tales of Festival 2012 DVD! Saaadly, the DVD will only cover Day 2 of the event, as you all probably already know by now, because of some issues with Jade's voice actor.

As revealed during the recent Tales of Xillia 2 talkshow event, the October 2012 issue of Viva! Tales of Magazine will feature Emil Castagnier and Sophie on the cover, with Emil presenting some food to Sophie. The issue will also mainly have info on Tales of Xillia 2, as well as the first chapter of a new novel called Tales of Xillia: Alvin Chronicle. This new Alvin novel will focus on "Alvin's untold tale", with story by Kaoru Yasuhiko and art by Ayumi Fujimura (the one who was also in charge of the Tales of Legendia manga).

I know I already posted about this back in our June 2012 issue, but I'd like to promote this wonderful bundle once again. If you still haven't ordered Tales of Graces F (actually, even if you have), then you might want to give the European version a try. They're offering a special Tales of Graces F Day One Edition which will include the game itself, a soundtrack CD (with around 12 tracks, I heard), a DVD with "Making of" videos of the game, a hardbound artbook and a DLC card with the Tales of Destiny 2 costumes for Asbel, Richard and Sophie and the PS3 themes, all wrapped in a special folded box. Tales of Graces F will be out in Europe on August 31st. I believe all those who will pre-order will get the Day One Edition, but once it runs out, they won't be making any more!

From Last Month's Issue:

Other Items For Pre-order:

The Tales of Friends Vol. 4 Rubber Straps Set has just been released late last month, featuring adorable art of some Tales of Series characters, like Ruca and Spada from Tales of Innocence and Elise and Rowen from Tales of Xillia.

The Tales of Graces F Asbel Lhant alarm clock was also released last July 25th. This character alarm clock has voice lines from Asbel in order to wake you up (...yeah, so not gonna work on me). CDJapan still has it in stock, but again, if you want to get the other versions available, you'll have to find some way to order from Lalabit Market.

    • Tales of Graces F Asbel Voice Alarm Clock

- CDJapan

This isn't exactly something that was "just released", but I noticed that I forgot to post about this during last month's issue. The wonderful Tales of Vesperia Rita Mordio 1/8 Scale Figure by ALTER was released last June, and the following shops still have it in stock:

If you missed out on the Japanese versions of Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Graces F for the PS3, then you might want to consider their The Best Versions which were released early this month, especially since they're way cheaper than the originals.

Other Items Just Released:

In this issue, we'll be focusing on what I think is something people tend to not pay much attention to when it comes to the Series merchandise: Music. In my honest opinion, the Tales of Series is home to some of the most memorable and most wonderful songs and music pieces for any video game series I've heard. The ones I'll list down here are those I highly recommend from my own collection, but you can simply search for others in most online shops (I'll list them below).

When it comes to Tales of Legendia, the game is most probably well-known for its amazing soundtrack. I can still remember the times when I'd just leave my game turned on with Senel just standing in the middle of a dungeon so I could just listen to the wonderful BGM. The Tales of Legendia Original Soundtrack is still available at the following places:

    • Tales of Legendia Original Soundtrack

- Play-Asia | YesAsia

I'm personally a big fan of Akira Senju's works, and in my opinion, he did an excellent job for Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike's Original Soundtrack. If you like his work as much as I do and you're a big fan of Vesperia, this is a must have.

Another two of my most favorite Tales of soundtracks would be Tales of Vesperia's and Tales of the Abyss's. Vesperia's has a few really catchy tunes, while Motoo Fujiwara's tracks on Abyss's are my favorites.

You can search for other Tales soundtracks and such over at Play-Asia and CDJapan. You can try YesAsia as well, but searching tends to be tedious unless you're searching for a specific title (i.e. Tales of Phantasia instead of just "Tales of").

And that's it for this month's issue of Tales Merch Monthly! Again, I apologize for the delay! Stay tuned for the next issue!
