Tales of Xillia 2 Gets 35/40 From Famitsu, 90/85/95/90 From Dengeki PS

Famitsu Magazine's scores for Tales of Xillia 2 are now out, as well as the scores from Dengeki PlayStation. The magazine gave the game scores of 9/9/8/9, giving it a total of 35/40. Its predecessor, Tales of Xillia, garnered a score of 39/40 before. It does have the same score as Tales of Vesperia PS3, but Tales of Graces f scores a bit higher with 37/40. Nonetheless, the score is still a good score.Comments on the game include:

  • They also comment that the game can be finished within 50 hours normally, or it can reach up to a hundred hours if you include all side quests.
  • Battles are exhilarating and have good tempo.
  • The opening scene of the game is a bit abrupt and surprising, especially since it's a sad one (this is probably the one in the trailer where Elle's father seems to get killed).
  • There's a limit of taking only 5 quests at a time, and one of the reviewers thought that was simply too small.
  • Choices are everywhere, some of them actually being just... so random. Some of them do reflect the story properly, though.
  • The game lets you freely do a lot of things, either in the story or in battle, including the choices. Even though the debt payment system seems difficult because of the amount of Gald needed, they're still all plausible. Plus, it's highly relevant to the scenario, though some might not really care for it.
  • It's actually quite connected with Xillia: It would be better to have played the previous game before playing Xillia 2, since some parts of the game might be hard to understand, but one will still have fun playing it. More than anything, the digest movies for Xillia only made one of the reviewers want to play the first Xillia instead of just being satisfied with them.
  • The first few hours feel a bit... boring, and Ludger rarely talks until much later.
  • Overall, it will surely please fans.

As for the scores from Dengeki PlayStation, they gave it 90/85/95/90. Still waiting for their comments. on the game.
