Iconic Tales Family Members pair up in new Rays Of Festival event!

Which pair garners your sympathy?

Tales of The Rays is hosting a new Rays of Festival event, with new Mirrage Artes for iconic pairs of family members and a new voting event. Naturally we have videos of the new Artes, as well as a guide on how to vote in-game below!

The theme of the last Rays of Festival was Family. Naturally the pairs were characters who were related to each other. The three pairs who won were Rokurou & Shigure, rival brothers from Tales of Berseria; Asbel & Hubert, the Lhant siblings from Tales of Graces and finally father and son duo Stahn & Kyle, who are from Tales of Destiny 1 and Tales of Destiny 2 respectively! Naturally, all characters get new 5* Artes individually as well as Crossover Mirrage Artes together.

The new Rays of Festival event is going to last 10 days. The theme behind the pairs this time is Sympathy. That may seem a little confusing, but the chosen pairs seem to indicate that in this case, it means pairs of characters that find each other's situations relatable. The 6 chosen pairs are:
Elize from Tales of Xillia and Arietta from Tales of The Abyss
Cheria from Tales of Graces and Eleanor from Tales of Berseria
Pascal from Tales of Graces and Harold from Tales of Destiny 2
Ange from Tales of Innocence and Rowen from Tales of Xillia
Sheena from Tales of Symphonia and Suzu from Tales of Phantasia
Yuri & Flynn both from Tales of Vesperia

Regardless of predictions on who will win, it's important to remember that three pairs of winners will be chosen and all players will be able to choose up to 3 pairs to vote for at the same time. Furthermore, voting is based on points scored in the event, so you not only have to pick a pair, you have to play well too! There are also rewards for scoring high, so it's recommended to vote for at least one pair even if you don't care about the outcome.

Here's a timeline to keep track of for the duration of this event. There are Daily Free 10-rolls every day for the duration of this event so be sure to check every day to roll on it! Also note that the .hack//G.U. crossover event is still running, so check out our last timetable as well here.

When you log into the game, you may notice 2 icons sticking out above the menu on the bottom. The left most is the Rays of Festival logo, telling you the rays of festival event is currently going on. The right most is telling you there's a free 1o-roll currently available in the gacha. Let's take advantage of that!

On the Gacha screen, the first banner highlighted should be the one with free rolls. If you lose track of it, look for the one with a dia cost of 0 on the 10-roll option. It's this banner.

Make absolute certain you pick the 0 cost option here!

Let's talk about voting. If you've never done a Rays Festival before, it can seem kind of complicated. The Voting quest will show up in the event quests separately from The Road To Festival, which is a farming event. In case you're confused, it's this one (the logo being in English helps!)

When you click this, you'll be taken to a page that looks like this. You can't just jump into the quest. You must click the large picture of the group that takes up most of the screen.

After doing so you'll be taken to a screen with 6 pairs.

Pick your top three, or two or one in any order, then hit the green button (hit the white buttons if you're not satisfied with your pick).

Afterwards the screen will change to this. Hit the green button on the bottom right to go to set up the quest!

The screen will look like this. On the left is a list of challenges and buffs. Pick challenges (red or yellow icons on the left with green triangles giving a positive percentage on the right) to increase points.

With all challenges picked, you'll hit the maximum default score of 2000!

But if you find a quest too hard, you may pick a buff (blue icon on left, red triangle pointing down on right). These make your characters stronger, but they also reduce points. With all challenges and one buff, you barely score more than no challenges in this example...

After that, you'll go to the usual team selection screen. Do the quest and have fun! There's no AP cost and infinite tries for free, so try your hardest and come up with the best strategies you can think of with the characters you have. As a general rule, Artes that dash through enemies with invincibility such as Asbel's Gale Maw, have high power and low hitcounts like Asbel's Burial Blade, or can debuff enemies like Asbel's seasonal Mirrage Arte are all good for Rays fest challenges. It's fun to have an event that lets you use characters you've been building up for a while! That said, if (and only if) you rolled one of the new 5*s or Crossover Mirrage Artes for the last Rays Fest winners, you'll get extra points. Don't worry if you don't have them though, hitting all challenges every day should give you enough points for the most important rewards.

By the way, there's also a farming event! The Road To Festival, which is the main thing you'll be using AP on. After finishing all the quests, the final quest is 70 AP with a single fight, which is what you'll want to repeat to farm. It's the usual high and low currencies, but the quest also gives double bond points, so consider using this opportunity to increase the bond level of some characters, perhaps even the recently added Peony and Van? It looks like this in the Event Quests. Again, it helps that the logo is in English!

Lastly, if you decide to roll on the new Artes, there's a special extra step you must take. You may notice it has a single white button instead of the usual options to so a single or multi-roll.

If you touch it, you'll be taken to this screen. It's a selection screen similar to selecting the pairs to vote on, except this time it's simply to select 2 characters to increase the rates of. With 6 people on one banner, this can help make it easier to get who you want, but be warned that random is still random.

And speaking of those new Artes, let's finally take a look at them!

Stahn & Kyle

The side view at the beginning brings 2D LMBS games to mind, especially if you played with co-op. It's a very nice detail that brings the father/son teamwork together!

Asbel & Hubert

Similar to the above, this can definitely remind you of playing co-op Graces if you have-combos generally follow a flow similar to this in co-op, and Asbel and Hubert cheering for their successful teamwork at the end can be familiar too. Many people who played Tales co-op did so with their siblings after all!

Rokurou & Shigure

That's all for now! We'll update this very article when part 2 comes with details on how the crowdfunding part works, as well as interim results and updated times. Also, it's the new month, so be on the lookout for a new preview video next week. See you then!
