AC Weigh-In: May 2019

For May 2019's edition of the weigh-in, we'll be talking about costumes!

What is your favorite Tales costume set or theme? (can be from mothership titles, mobile games, etc)

	I love it when they have the male characters dressed up in fancy suits complete with coat and tie. It makes the men look more dashing than they already are. I also really love the wedding-themed costumes we usually see on the mobile games, both for the men and the women.
	I really like the formal sets, "boring" as they might be. Everyone just really comes out clean in them, especially the guys.
	I quite like the costumes in Xillia and Xillia 2. The reason being there is a variety from cameo costumes to alternate coloring to just cute DLCs in general.
	ONSEN~! There's nothing better than short towels that may fall down in batt... *ekhm* I also am pretty fond of Summer Yukatas and New Year kimonos. They're always having very character fitting patterns.
	In mothership games, I'm always amused by cameo costumes from other Tales games. Hearts R had some especially fun ones, like Kunzite dressed as Repede. In mobile games with a greater variety of costumes though, I usually prefer the New Year's and summer festival sets.
	Traditional japanese costumes! Kimonos, Hakamas, Yukatas... I love them all aaah~
	School sets are always fun! Even more so when one or two of the characters get a teacher/nurse role. Vesperia and Xillia had great looking school sets.
	I tend to go between the Tales cameo costumes and the school costumes. I think it's fun to match up characters in different outfits from the previous games, such as Asbel is Kyle's costume or Sorey in Yuri's. The school costumes are also nice, though they can be pretty hit or miss in my opinion. Any time there's a Namco reference costume, that's an instant win for me as well.
	Who doesn't love the Legacy costumes, amirite? But since that seems a bit too obvious, I'll confess my appreciation for the seaside theme (being an island girl myself, ya feel). Also a big fan of the Alice and Wonderland-esque costumes in Tales of Asteria.

Is there a particular set or theme you wish to see? For what series or character?

	Please put the men in noble clothing or princely clothing. For my personal tastes. Heh. But seriously those noble-type clothes they released for Sorey in Asteria, I think? That looked GREAT. Please dress up our guys more, Bamco.
	The Valkyrie Anatomia collaboration already gave us Jade in Lezard's outfit, so I think there's nothing more I could wish for at this point given what we have in terms of Jade alternate costumes, but one day I would love to see the Abyss ladies in magical girl outfits.
	Honestly, I would like to see a mothership game use Legendia characters as cameo costumes. If outside of Tales, I would like to see Tales characters wear Shounen Jump outfits since Bamco seems to like making Jump games.
	I really loved Innocence R "future job" set. It's nice to see what the characters aspire for.
	I'd like to see some of the more obscure characters represented in cameo costumes, like Mary, Ras, etc. And the villain costume set from Vesperia was really cool, so I'd love to see an updated version of that in a newer game.
	Mm... Nothing in particular i guess, but more meme-y costumes would be funny, like that Karol one, the Normins/Mieu from Berseria...
	Probably more cross over style costumes. From Tekken, to Idolmaster, to even outside of Bandai Namco properties like Granblue Fantasy.
	If we're talking something new, I think a Shonen Jump themed costume set would be fun. Or at the very least a Dragon Ball set. I'm not particular about what Tales game gets it, though if it came with my beloved Eternia remake that would be lovely.
	Swordian Masters outfit swap with the OG Swordian Master counterparts, I beg thee.

Which Tales character do you think would look good in almost anything?

	*Points at Guy* Guy looks good, no, he looks great, period. He looks good in anything. Even his weird swimming costume looks good on him. Even Abyssman looks good on him. IDK I just really like how Guy looks. He's like, your typical good-looking big brother next door. A close second would be Cless, I think - they look like your typical handsome man who'd look good even if you threw them into a clown outfit.
	My answer is predictably Jade. Somehow he even rocks that Malkuth uniform that doesn't look as flattering on anyone else.
	I know I'm being biased because she's my icon, but I think Eleanor looks good in anything. Her Natalia outfit and her Magilou Menagerie outfit shows how versatile she can be with color choices and hairstyling. Not only that, a lot of her outfits give her different hair styles that she pulls off really well.
	Sheena and Velvet. I happened to draw each in various kinds of clothes and they always looked good. Even if the costume was very... peculiar and outrageous.
	To be fair, most of them look great in any costume... But if I had to pick one, Milla rocks pretty much every outfit I've seen her in, regardless of whether it's fancy and elegant or ridiculous fanservice, haha.
	I need to stop answering *that one* so much. Diversity! So... Kongman!!! . . . Actually, no, nevermind, Leon.
	Tales of Asteria has proven that Milla looks good in anything with her many character cards. -laugh-
	I'd say either Estelle or Chloe. Estelle's general design seems to work well with different outfits, in my opinion. Chloe is the same to me, though I think it's probably because they have similar structures, like their bobbed hair and such. It might also be because they are my two favorite females, so I'm a bit biased. Though, in all fairness, pretty much all of the cast from Legendia had, like, two costumes right? That's a little unfair.
	As cliché as this may sound—Leon Magnus.

Have you tried cosplaying a Tales character? If not, then is there someone from the series that you want to cosplay?

	I actually have cosplayed Cheria Barnes from Tales of Graces f and Rita Mordio from Tales of Vesperia. I was planning to cosplay Reala but I had costume problems with that one. Ah, I've also cosplayed Kanonno Earhart from Radiant Mythology 2 - my friends and I cosplayed all three Kanonnos at that time. On hiatus staff LaZyEnErGeTiC was Kanonno Grassvalley~. Good times.
	This probably sounds tiring at this point, but yes, I have cosplayed Jade before. I do want to redo bits of that cosplay someday though...
	I haven't cosplay (I'm not much of one either). If I could, I'd cosplay as Eleanor.
	I cosplayed Tear on my very first convention back in 2008. I would love to cosplay Kongwai sometime this year, even if I barely have time to sew nowadays.
	Yes! I've cosplayed as Raine, Tear, Farah, and Velvet. And I recently made a Gaius cosplay for a friend. There's not a huge Tales fandom in my area, so I really love cosplaying as my favorite Tales characters. When someone recognizes my cosplay at a convention, it's a great way to find fellow Tales fans!
	Not... yet. I want to cosplay a lot of Tales charas... Like Sorey! Cus it sounds easy. He's plain. Like me. Hell no i'm making that shepherd cape thingie tho.
	Lloyd Irving in 2006, Stahn Aileron in 2008, and Raven in 2009. It’s a lot of work, so I haven’t done it in awhile. Additionally, con season is usually hot so that’s another factor in not wanting to do it much these days. But if I had to choose my next character, it’d be Rokurou from Tales of Berseria!
	No, I haven't. I'm afraid I don't have the proper tools or know-how to do cosplay. I don't think I would be able to pull it off well. It would also probably mean that I would have to shave my beard off, which I don't want to do. Maybe I'll cosplay a Tales character if there happens to be on in the future who looks just like me! That'll make my job easier.
	Yes! In fact, I've cosplayed quite a few such as Marta, Chal, Edna, Arche, Ivar, ... so many more, lol.
