On July 8th, 2025, Bandai Namco Entertainment registered a trademark for "Tales of Destiny" in Japan. No further information is currently available, besides an image of the game title in black English text over a white background. The listing can be seen here for further reading, albeit in Japanese.
Similarly, a trademark for "Tales of the Abyss" was filed back in January, as we reported, which you can read about here.
Speaking for the website as a whole, we wish to remind our readers and fellow fans that simple trademarks do not necessarily constitute a new release for a game, be it a remaster, remake, or otherwise. Please take this information with a grain of salt and exercise patience for Bandai Namco to announce the next Tales of Remastered game, which is planned for the summer, as we reported.
And speaking for myself, during this episode of Tales of Flamzeron breaks the rules-ia, This is very exciting and while we may not hear much on it for some time, as trademarks don't usually lead to announcements the next day, I am hopeful that we will get to play Tales of Destiny once more on new hardware. The game itself, I've found, is considered to be a gem amongst older PS1-era gamers, so in my opinion, remastering Tales of Destiny, ideally the remake for PS2, would not be a bad idea, especially in this era of gaming with 2D-HD being a popular style. Technically, "Destiny PS2" was one of the early adopters, when you think about it. And Bamco does plan to release new remastered titles at a somewhat steady rate, as mentioned in their 30th Anniversary Japanese broadcast below:

Tales of Destiny is the second title to be released for the Tales of Series and is the first in the entire series to get localized for North America. It is the first game to feature character designs by Mutsumi Inomata. The game, originally for the PS1, eventually got a full remake for the PS2, as well as a Director’s Cut featuring a story arc from popular Tales character Leon Magnus’s point of view. Tales of Destiny 2 is its direct sequel.
